When we were invited to pitch to Kenshoo for K in the Park, there was a huge sense of excitement within the office. The event was already an award-winner and looking back on previous events, we knew that it was going to be a challenge as they had already been hugely successful. However, we hoped we could partner with them to enhance the event for 2019. The cheers and whoops within the office when won the pitch was immense, it’s safe to say we were all focused to deliver the best K in the Park to date.

 

Client Brief

With digital marketing events ten a penny across the UK, Kenshoo were striving to create a live event that supported both its revenue and client retention goals. In previous years it has been known as an authentic event experience that asks digital marketers to challenge the norm and think differently – be that from the environment right through to the content of the presentations which aimed to develop both personally and professionally. What could we do to ensure that 2019 prompted those same thoughts and challenges, all whilst achieving the same successful results as previous years?

The Venue

This year we took K-in-the-Park to Mudchute Park and Farm, London. An urban chic venue that culminates in the mix of the heart of one the biggest economic metropolis centres globally, Canary Wharf, and quintessential British countryside. Operating as a charity, using this venue enabled us to give back to the local community and continue to give families the opportunity to experience a working farm in the heart of London.

 

Partners & Sponsors

Kenshoo tasked themselves with pitching for four partners and three sponsors for the event. This achievement was met with the incredible brands who wanted to partner the event: Facebook/Instagram, Microsoft, Google & Verizon Media.

 

The sponsors of the event were achieved by both Kenshoo and us, winning bids from Freedom Brewery, Bacardi and Productsup.

Finding engaging and creative activities was the fun part. The delegates were inspired and enjoyed everything on offer, with queues at nearly all partner stands throughout the breaks in the day.

 

Goals & Vision

  • Creating a festival that was bigger, better and made an impact
  • Ensuring the attendance of at least 250 attendees and 700 registrations
  • Removing delegates from a sterile indoor setting and placing them in a funky festival environment that encourages networking and free-thinking; something that alone results in higher attendance figures.
  • Creating an environment that results in an engaging delegate experience, tackling everything from staff retention to sales.
  • Enhancing the previous years and create the opportunity to win the contract for 2020, developing a long-term working relationship with Kenshoo.- “Dare to be different” Following our company tagline to not only make K-in-the-Park 2019 unique but exceed expectations.

  • 370 attendees, an incredible result against the 250 target

  • 100% of delegates reported that K-in-the-Park exceeded their expectations

We are fortunate that we are in an industry that we love and we think that stands out when we deliver our services. However, being able to work with Kenshoo and take the guidance of Michelle Urwin who has headed up the event internally from the first year it was live, was a real treat! Kenshoo and in particular Michelle, are hugely creative, they have a very clear understanding of exactly what resonates within their sector and this gave us the opportunity to work alongside absolute experts. The strategic alliance of the two businesses really worked and together we delivered an incredible event.

 

What better catering to have at an outdoor event in the blazing sunshine than a classic British BBQ buffet? Hats off to the incredible team at Fabulous BBQ who sizzled up the most fantastic feast for our KITP festival-goers yet again. With popping sausages, fresh vegetable skewers, corn bites, salads, vegan and meat burgers and a whopping hog roast, every dietary need was more than catered for and it’s something that Fabulous BBQ pride themselves in.

 

Another thing that really stood out for us is actually that the whole Kenshoo team are really nice people. Kenshoo has a very strong underpinning of corporate ethics and it shows within their teams attitude and mentality, when you enter their offices they are incredibly welcoming and warm, you are instantly made to feel wanted – Something I think many companies strive for, but they have nailed. We’ve mentioned that the venue is a charity, as with all charities, they are underfunded. The Kenshoo team took a day out of the office to volunteer at Mudchute Park and Farm with the ethos of giving something back which we salute them for!

 

We are of course already excited about K in the park 2020 and plans are well underway to top 2019, watch this space!
